Razorpay Magic Checkout vs Cashfree Checkout 360: An Honest Comparison

Rounding out the comparisons we keep getting asked about — GoKwik vs Razorpay Magic Checkout and GoKwik vs Cashfree Checkout 360 — here’s the one between the two payment gateways directly: Razorpay Magic Checkout vs Cashfree Checkout 360. Unlike GoKwik, both of these are full payment gateways with a one-click checkout layer built on top, not standalone checkout platforms — which makes the gateway pricing itself part of the real comparison, not just the checkout features.

Disclosure: Klickspell is a referral partner for Razorpay, Cashfree, and GoKwik, and may earn a commission regardless of which gateway a merchant ends up choosing — so there’s no single-platform financial incentive behind this comparison.

Rather skip to an answer? Take our 2-minute checkout quiz — it scores both of these plus GoKwik against your actual COD mix, AOV, and priorities.

Gateway pricing: the actual headline difference

This is the most concrete, verifiable difference between the two:

  • Razorpay: standard/permanent rate is a flat 2% per transaction (Razorpay pricing), no setup or annual maintenance fee. Razorpay is also currently running its own limited-time new-merchant promo — 0% platform fee for the first 90 days, for merchants under ₹5L/month (above that, custom/Enterprise pricing — contact sales). Magic Checkout itself is separately enterprise-priced regardless of which rate the base gateway is on — contact sales.
  • Cashfree: standard/permanent rate is a flat 1.95% + applicable taxes on domestic transactions (Cashfree pricing), and Checkout 360 appears to be included in standard pricing rather than gated behind a separate enterprise quote. Cashfree is also currently running its own limited-time new-merchant promo — 0% platform fee up to ₹20L cumulative GMV — through 31 March 2027 or until the GMV cap is hit, whichever comes first.

Both promos are for merchants signing up during the respective campaign windows, not the standing rate — build your pricing model around the permanent rates (Razorpay 2%, Cashfree 1.95%), not either promo, since both have expiry conditions (Razorpay’s is time-based under a volume threshold, Cashfree’s is GMV-capped with a hard date) that aren’t guaranteed to still apply by the time you’re reading this. On the permanent rates, Cashfree is slightly cheaper (1.95% vs 2%), though the gap is narrow. Which promo (if either) actually applies to a given store depends on its volume and signup timing — re-confirm both are still live before factoring either into a pitch.

Address prefill and network size

  • Razorpay Magic Checkout: 200M+ saved addresses, auto-fill from its shopper identity network.
  • Cashfree Checkout 360: 120M+ verified saved addresses, with a specifically claimed 95% accuracy rate.

Razorpay’s network is larger by the numbers both companies publish. Cashfree is the only one making an explicit accuracy claim rather than just a coverage number — worth asking both what exactly “accuracy” measures before treating either figure as directly comparable.

RTO and COD handling

  • Razorpay: prepay nudges, differential COD fees by risk tier, COD disabled for high-risk shoppers, plus an RTO Protection product that automates reimbursement when a delivery actually fails — a backstop on top of prevention, not just prevention.
  • Cashfree: AI-driven RTO prediction trained on 2.5B+ logistics data points, real-time COD allow/block/partial controls, targeted COD masking, claims up to 30% RTO reduction.

Razorpay is the only one of the two with an actual reimbursement/insurance-style product for when prevention fails. If pure prevention is all you need, both have comparable real tooling; if you want a financial backstop on top, that’s specifically a Razorpay feature.

Discounting

Both have genuinely caught up to what used to be considered checkout-specialist-only territory:

  • Razorpay: Coupon Suite — multicoupon stacking, tiered coupons, audience/list-targeted codes.
  • Cashfree: stacked discounts, automatic Shopify-native discounts, Buy X Get Y, product/collection-level discounts, prepaid-specific discounts, cashback, No Cost EMI.

Neither publicly documents native A/B testing on discount variants the way GoKwik’s Kwik Flows does — Razorpay covers this via a third-party integration (CustomFit.ai); we found no equivalent documented for Cashfree.

What we actually do

If a client is choosing a gateway from scratch, the pricing structure alone often settles it — Cashfree for a newer or lower-volume store, Razorpay once volume is high enough that the gap narrows and the RTO Protection backstop becomes more valuable. Unlike the checkout-layer comparisons elsewhere on this site, this one is a genuine payment-gateway migration (settlement accounts, reconciliation, accounting integrations), so it carries real one-time switching cost worth weighing against the ongoing savings — we’ll lay out both sides of that math rather than default to “stay put,” since the better gateway on merit is sometimes worth the move.
